Growing Two: 29 weeks

Just wanted to jot down some thoughts from where I stand at week 29 of pregnancy. A random week to do so, but here I am. So much is going on lately! And mostly good things. The days are going slow but the weeks are going by fast, and I can only imagine that the pace will pick up as we're right on the cusp of the holiday season.

+ The babies are growing like weeds, praise God! Last week's appointment had baby boy measuring at 2 lbs. 11 oz. and baby girl at 2 lbs. 9 oz. - right on track with singleton babies. I'm so glad they're packing on weight, and hope they can keep doing that for the next several weeks! I feel stretched to the max already and can't really imagine getting too much bigger. I hope my body can do it. Mostly I have been feeling good, but I have days where my back is sore if I'm on my feet a lot. I'm trying to balance giving my body rest and accomplishing all that I want to get done before they get here! My goal is to make it to 36 weeks, which would be Dec. 30. It is so weird not knowing if these babies will be born in 2015 or 2016, or even December or January (hopefully not November).

+ We had maternity photos taken last weekend and I absolutely love them. My goal was just to get a couple good shots of us during this milestone we're about to embark upon, and I also wanted to make sure I liked the photographer for our newborn photos. Rikke hit it out of the park! I'm so excited to hang some of these in the nursery for our little ones to see how excited we are to have them join our family.

+ We had three baby showers (!!) over the last couple months and I have been blown away by the generosity of friends and family! We are pretty much set with baby gear and clothes - so many adorable clothes! These babies are going to be so well dressed! Michael's parents did a couples one for us in Charlotte, my mom and sisters did one for me back home in Virginia, and then last weekend my friends here in Raleigh gave me one for local friends and family. Each one was different from the other and they were all just wonderful. Perhaps I will recap them in a future post. I'm a little sad that the showers are over, but it is really nice to have most of our initial necessities already taken care of so we can just finish up the nursery and then wait for the babies to come.

+ The nursery is coming along, slowly but surely. I'm hoping to finish most of it in the next few weeks before Thanksgiving. We painted the walls a light aqua color, have all of the furniture put together, and now we just need to figure out decorations and curtains. A friend reminded me that there is no need to rush on the nursery - the babies won't know if I finish it before or after they arrive. Plus they won't sleep in there the first few weeks anyway. I just want to take advantage of the time I have now, knowing that things will be pretty crazy for a while after they arrive. Hopefully I can post some photos soon!
