High 5 for Friday

I haven't done one of these posts in a while! I decided I'd do a low 5 along with my high 5. I'll start with the lows and build up from there.

This week's lows:

1. I found 4 gray hairs this week - eek! Feeling really old. I may have to start dyeing my hair in the near future.
2. I cleaned the whole main level the other night - vacuumed, cleaned the powder room, straightened up. Thanks to the Coop man, not even 2 days later it looked like it needed a thorough cleaning again.
3. This has been a looong week at work. I am so ready for a vacation.
4. The rain. And the cold. I am just SICK of it! So ready for spring to come and STAY.
5. Since we were out of town last weekend and got home late Sunday night, the laundry and grocery shopping have yet to be caught up on... I am thinking it probably won't happen tonight either, even though it should.

Weekend!

I feel like I've finally gotten back in the swing of things after our cruise. I've been so much more productive this week and more motivated to get organized (note: this does not mean that I am organized). Nevertheless, I am always as ready for the weekend as the next person! I am SO glad Friday is here. And here are 5 things for me to be happy about.

1. Last weekend we went to Charlotte for some fun time with my in-laws. Included: a candy-themed birthday party for my niece and nephew (complete with moon bounce!), unintentional outfit matching, baby time, and hanging with the cutest dog ever, Snickers. Seriously, she curled up at the foot of our bed as we went to sleep, and we woke up to her curled up right in between us by our heads. Too. cute.

2. Our search for a new place to live is nearing its end. We are  t h i s  close to choosing this one neighborhood we really like. I know that anywhere we choose there is going to be something I don't like about it, but I'm still scared to bite the bullet on the chance that something better will come along later. Praying for contentment and assurance in whatever decision we make!

3. Spending time with friends really is a highlight of my week. And lucky me, I got to do that 3 times this week, weekends not included!

4. Thankful for my sweetie! He's another highlight. He really is the best!

5. Last night I painted my nails Essie's "Sand Tropez" taupe. I'm liking the neutral so far!

P.S. A nail-painting tip: if you get some around the edges of your skin while painting, don't pull out the nail polish remover to get it off. I always mess up at least one of my nails when I do this. Wait until the next time you're in the shower or washing dishes and the water makes it come right off your skin! Way easier!

This weekend we are headed up to VA to see my baby sister graduate HIGH SCHOOL! I can't believe it. She still seems so young in my eyes! I am SO proud of her! Looking forward to spending some time with the family as well as seeing high school friends. Happy weekend everybody!

Friday's here!

Friday, I've been waiting for you all week. I'm so glad you're finally here!

This week has had its share of ups and downs. As far as the downs go, I've been PMSing like whoa (TMI? sorry guys) and the hubs has been having to deal with it (thanks sweetie!). He really is a keeper. But anywho... let's move on to the ups :)

1. Last Friday was date night. Like fancy date night. I wore a sexy black dress and high heels, curled my hair, and we were treated like royalty at the Angus Barn. It was so wonderful!

We got the Chateaubriand (the absolute best steak there is) and indulged on their famous Chocolate Chess Pie for dessert, warmed with vanilla ice cream of course. We took a tour of the wine cellar also, which is pretty famous and has won lots of awards. I feel like we are officially Raleigh-Durham locals now that we've finally been to Angus Barn!

2. Saturday we picked up some strawberries from the local strawberry patch. We were in a hurry so we just grabbed a few cartons instead of picking them ourselves, but boy were they good! They were totally already gone by Sunday.

3. While grocery shopping at Target, I had a buy-one-get-one-50%-off coupon for accessories, so I wandered over to the purses and jewelry. I just happened to stumble upon the most perfect spring/summer purse! I love the bright punch of red, and the colorful stripes inside just make me so happy! And it was on sale for $21! I picked up a pair of sunglasses for half off and called it a day. A happy day for sure.

4. I created a weekly prayer schedule. I feel like whenever I seriously want to pray, I get super overwhelmed about all the things there are to pray for, and then I just get stressed because I feel like there will never be enough time to pray about them all. So each day of the week has a designated thing or person to pray for, things like: family, my husband, our future kids, the world, my walk with God and my struggles, our church and small group, our friends. This will take a while to get good at - my goal is to pray throughout the day but so far I'm having a hard time remembering because I'm so absorbed in my own activities, so I guess there will be prayer for that as well! Thinking about the fact that I am able to have an intimate conversation with the God of this universe really puts it into perspective and reminds me not to take that for granted. This is going to be a great thing :)

5. As I said before, my husband is more patient with me than I deserve. I'm so lucky to have him as my partner in life! I had no idea when I walked down the aisle that marriage would be this hard... but I also had no idea how amazing and beautiful it would be too. The good by far outweighs the bad and I love Michael so much more now than I did on our wedding day! So, so thankful for him.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! :)

High 5 For Friday!

It's Friday! Linking up again with Lauren and here are my top 5 things this week:

Photobucket

1. Looking for a new home! All week I have been driving around downtown Raleigh looking at neighborhoods and trying to figure out where exactly we want to live. I'm so excited to move to an area that has more to do right within our reach. Daydreaming about our new neighborhood has also been a daily activity!

2. The incredible weather we've been having. I haven't worn a coat in weeks! Also we had some pretty awesome thunderstorms the other night. I am a super heavy sleeper, and I was woken up at 6 am Tuesday morning by thunder that must have been right on top of us. It was LOUD! That part wasn't really that great, but hearing the thunder throughout the rest of the day was pretty cool! There's something cozy about hearing a raging storm outside while you're safe and sound inside.

3. My new Toms shoes. I know they have been around forever, but I have been wanting them for just as long and I finally decided on a color. I love the tan burlap I chose!

4. Babies everywhere. Ev-ery-where. I keep seeing photos pop up all over Facebook (I guess it's baby season?) and I love it! Every time I see a newborn baby it just makes me so happy. I mean, a whole person was just brought into the world!! They weren't a part of it one moment, and the next they are in it! A whole entire human being with his or her whole entire life to live. It's amazing to me. Congrats to all the new mommas out there!

5. An amazing girls weekend ahead of me! I'm meeting up with my best college girlfriends for the weekend and I could not be more excited to see them!!! The only thing that would make it better is if we were all driving in the same car to get there, like our good ol' college road trippin' times.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have a great weekend :)

High 5 for Friday!

So glad it's Friday! I'm so ready to get some rest this weekend. How about you?

1. I'm loving my red accessories today. They're making this gray day a little more fun!

earrings: gifted; ballet flats: Mossimo from Target

2. Tuesday night I spent the evening on myself and it was so nice. Michael went out to dinner with friends, so I changed into sweats when I got home from work and sat on the couch for the rest of the evening. I watched TV, caught up on my favorite blogs, and did pretty much nothing else. I usually have a to do list for myself every night, but I decided to ditch it. It was wonderful just relaxing!

3. I'm slowly but surely getting to know my coworkers. It's been interesting because we don't have a ton in common, but it's caused me to stretch outside of my comfort zone and it's been really great.

4. Springing forward this Sunday. I know, it's going to be so hard Monday morning when that missing hour of sleep really hits me, but I'm really looking forward to having more sunlight in my evenings! I don't think I appreciated sunlight as much until I started working full-time. In the dead of winter, the sun will just be coming out on my drive into work, and on some nights it's already out of sight on my drive home. I'm excited to have longer days!

5. You're going to think I'm crazy, but tonight I'm heading down to the beach again! Last weekend was a random opportunity for my family to come down, but this weekend trip with Michael's family has been planned for a while. I'm excited because we haven't all been together since Christmas!

Have a great weekend! :)

High Five for Friday

It's Friday, y'all! So happy it's here. Let's hear it for this week's High 5!

1. My overall birthday week has been amazing! Going to the beach and having a day off work were just what I needed.

2. And the birthday celebration continues with some amazeballs cupcakes at work... yeah, that one in the corner has bacon on it. Check it out. This place means business.

3. These hilarious... hmm what do I call them, comics? cartoons? Whatever they are, they had me laughing out loud!!

For those of you who don't know what Downton Abbey is, you better get on that!

4. Beautiful weather on Thursday = lunch outside! A Thai chicken salad from Panera and a place to soak in some rays really brightened up my day.

5. Pinners Gone Wild. Let's be honest, we all love ourselves some Pinterest. But there are some pins we see on there that make us go, "really??" This site captures them all. Here are a few of my faves:

High Five for Friday!

I'm really liking this High Five for Friday thing, so I'm going to join up with Lauren again! What a fun way to put a positive spin on the week and focus on the GOOD things that are happening. Here is this week's top 5:

1. Last weekend I visited my family at home and it was so nice. I spent time with my parents and got to catch up with a good friend over coffee - a great weekend!

2. While at home, I saw The Vow with my mom and sisters. It was so sad and I literally came out of the theater sobbing, but it was such a good movie! I really liked the way it ended, and what girl doesn't need a good cry every once in a while?

3. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I came home from work to pink roses and wine from my husband, we had dinner out at Firebirds, and then came back home and watched "The New Girl" on Hulu. Doesn't take much to please us!

isn't that wine bottle neat?

4. It's my birthday this Sunday! I'm taking a little trip to the beach to celebrate. It's forecast to be cold and rainy, but I don't care, I'm still so excited for a weekend of relaxation!

5. I also have the day off on Monday just to enjoy some free time at home :) Taking a little time off work is one of my birthday traditions that I don't think I'll ever decide to give up!

Have a great weekend! :)

High Five for Friday!

I'm linking up with Lauren over at From My Grey Desk for High Five for Friday! And I don't think I've ever been so excited for a Friday...

1. I'm finally kicking the butt of the cold I've had all week. Feeling refreshed and ready for the weekend :)

2. Loving the cute calendar that I printed from anna and blue paperie. Free printables are great! (Leave a comment if you want to find out how I got it). I have all 12 months but I'm only putting up 4 at a time on the wall of my cubicle!

3. Even though I was feeling tired and sick this week, I still managed to try 2 new recipes (one of my new year's resolutions). Wife points!

4. This week I joined the church choir and I am SO excited to be singing again! I cannot wait for the Easter performance.

5. And hurray for good friends finally getting engaged!! Congrats Corinne and Joseph!!!

Can we say High Five for Friday??
